The Cursed Blue Rose
The south is the one region of the Atlas named for its own ground. Ashen plains cover five of its fifteen charted settlements, with tropic seasonal forest, savanna and grassland taking the remainder. It is dry: nine of the fifteen have no water access, and the six that do stand on the ocean. Mining leads in five towns, with naval trade, farming, garrison duty and water-works behind it.
The map draws two of its harshest features here. The Greathammers rise across the region and the Blackspire Abyss opens near their foot, both of them closer to the southern towns than to any others in the world.
Thirteen of the fifteen settlements are Lohanar. Their belief, however, splits precisely: four towns hold the Ruby as divine and four keep the Infernal Creed, with no third faith recorded and no clear majority either way. It is the most evenly contested region of belief in the Atlas.
Politically Arkenta is the strongest single seat, holding six settlements, with Vallaris and the Creed at three apiece and one town answering directly to the Creed's Legion of Ash. The blocs of Mareva, Bareshum and the Creed divide the rest. Arkenta is a great city; Ferrava and Bareshum are major ones. Kharbeta lies here.
