The Cursed Blue Rose
Cropland comes first at Tamazor. The south-western grassland here is deep-soiled and slow to drain, and a lake close by keeps water within reach through the dry season, so the city sits inside a wide worked apron of fields, stock pens and irrigation cuts. Raised in the second wave of expansion, it grew into one of the great cities of the region on grain alone: threshing floors the size of squares, granaries built heavy and dry, cart traffic thick enough at harvest to churn the approaches to dust. What Tamazor cannot eat, it sells, and what it sells feeds towns with no fields of their own.
The Ashanar of Tamazor are farming stock rather than seafaring, keen on measures and boundaries and the exact wording of a lease. Towns of the grass, of the rainforest and of the coast answer to Tamazor's name. Tamazor in turn is governed by the faction seated at Lemmalu, the harbour town on the ocean coast, and the whole belongs to the wider bloc of Saradir: a great city taking its instruction from a modest harbour, which its farmers note without much heat.
