The Cursed Blue Rose
High in the broken rock of the south-east, where the ground offers nothing but stone and thin weather, a small garrison holds Ignis Sanctum. It is new by the reckoning of this continent, a foundation of the present age rather than an inheritance, and the newness shows in its shape: everything built to one purpose, nothing left over from an older town underneath. There are no fields worth the name and no harbour at all. What the place produces is watchfulness. Supply comes up from below, stores are kept deep and dry, and the garrison's work is the mountain itself, the approaches it can see, the weather it must outlast.
Lohanar and Suvanar serve here side by side, in numbers small enough that every face is known. The fortress answers to Emberguard, and Emberguard to the wider bloc seated at Daskilon; orders arrive from below and are obeyed above. Its faith is the Ruby narrowed to a single aspect. The Firewife is kept by priestesses who tend a flame in a plain round hearth-circle at the heart of the works, and who send the watch out to its posts with fire's blessing rather than a farewell.
