The Cursed Blue Rose
Little dries out here. Pristanov sits in temperate rainforest near the centre of the continent, on a river that runs down to a lake, and the weather that keeps the forest so heavy also keeps the roofs steep and the timber yards under cover. Three things move through the city. Fields and orchards cut from the wet forest feed it; mills, tanneries and workshops turn what the forest and the fields give into goods worth carrying; and the water takes those goods out again. It is a working city, loud early and quiet late, and prosperous in a plain and unglamorous way.
The Radiant Light is kept here, and the Pristanese who keep it are Suvanar. Their city belongs to the third wave of expansion — old enough to have outgrown its first limits several times over. Allegiance runs to Risbern, an arrangement that suits both parties well enough: Pristanov produces, and a city built around soldiers has a permanent appetite for what a productive one makes.
